Next month The French Open is due to begin and Roger Federer has confirmed that he plans to be a part of the competition.
Last year Roger Federer missed out on the French Open citing reoccurring back and Knee issues. However, this year having proven that he is well and back on form, the 35 year old intends to head to Roland Garros.
Speaking in relation to the French Open following his victory over John Isner in Washington. He confirmed that he was registered and that he had every intention of playing in France.
Success at the Australian Open, and on the ATP tour in both Miami, and Indian Wells has meant that the talented tennis ace is enjoying his time back on the courts this year.
Not only is he back on form, Roger Federer has expressed that he is feeling privileged to be able to be back in the game and comfortable. Especially as he spent so long in recovery last year when all he wanted to do was play. His knee seemed to take a long time to fully heal and then his back began to cause him problems. Both Injuries contributed to his early exit from Wimbledon 2016, when it all became too much to bare. Federer was then out for six months.
The time off from tennis, gave the star a chance to spend more time with his family something that he has commented on and described as incredible. He was also able to concentrate on his rehabilitation and preparations for the new season:
“I was able to spend some incredible time with the family and start preparing for this season and hoping that the work that I put in in the off-season was going to really pay off. I was going to get a second chance to really play tennis again on the professional tour and so when I did come back in Australia, it was really exciting.”
